Basic Rules
Texas Holdem Poker uses a standard pack of playing 52 cards. There are four suits - spades, hearts, diamonds and clubs. No suit is higher than another is. The card ranking is as follows A, K, Q, J, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2. Ace may also be the lowest card depending on the variations you are using, but it is usually the highest. Texas Holdem Poker hands contain five cards, the highest hand wins.
First, each player places an ante into the pot before the dealer deals the cards. The ante can be anything from a nickel to thousands of dollars. The Texas Holdem Poker players need an ante because it guarantees that someone will always win. Once everyone has paid their ante, the dealer deals cards, starting at the player to his left and continuing clockwise. The dealer always deals to himself last and then deals everyone a first card, then goes back around the circle to deal the second and so on. When every poker player has five cards, the game begins.
Texas Holdem Poker Rounds of Bet:
Always betting is handled in a clockwise order. You can choose from the following options when the betting gets to you. These are the options:
1. Call - If you choose to Call then you would put the amount that you owed into the pot and you would stay in the hand.
2. Raise - When you raise you first put enough in the pot to match what has already been bet and then you would raise the pot by putting an additional amount. After that, the other Texas Holdem Poker players will either Call, Raise, or Fold.
3. Fold - It is dropping out of the current hand and losing the possibility of winning the pot. You don’t have to put money in and you would only lose the ante, if its on the first turn, or whatever you put in the pot later.
Betting is always dependent on the people you are playing with and of course on the rules that they define. Each player who has not folded after the last round of betting have the option of showing his or her hand and possibly winning the pot. The person who bet last is the first to show their hand. The highest hand wins the pot.
